Telford Living are exploring proposals for the redevelopment of the site. We are at an early stage in the process and are keen to hear from the local community to better understand their views on the site, as well as the needs and priorities of the wider area. This feedback will play a vital role in shaping the emerging proposals.

Thank you to those who joined us on Saturday 18th April the LEB Spring Festival. Telford Living opened up the site of the former LEB Building to local charities, youth, arts and cultural and religious groups – and the wider community – for a free, family‑friendly afternoon of activities, creativity and food. It was a pleasure to enjoy the sunshine and day with you all!

The LEB building dates to the 1950s. It was originally the headquarters for the London Electricity Board and later use by the Council as office space. The building is currently being used ‘Proposition Studios’ who are an affordable workspace provider specialising in artists’ studios.
While currently occupied by Proposition Studios on a temporary ‘meanwhile use’ basis, the building’s age creates a number of issues, including:
Telford Homes acquired the site in 2017 with the intention of redeveloping it and bringing it into full use. A previous application to provide new homes on the site in buildings of up to 15 storeys was refused in 2020. Telford Living has recently appointed a new design team to begin developing proposals to secure the site’s long-term future.
We are pleased to share that following engagement with the local community, Telford Living has submitted a planning application to Tower Hamlets Council for the redevelopment of the LEB Building which has now been uploaded to the Council’s planning portal (Planning ref: PA/26/00212/A1).
